1930s Gretsch Gladstone with 3 way tuning 14 x 6.5 No 139
Billy Gladstone was Radio City’s drummer in New York in the 1930’s. He was accomplished drummer who also had some very definite ideas about drums and their construction. He invented an ingenious tuning system that allowed him to tune his snare drum without lifting it off its stand. This is a 3 way tuner he designed before making is own Gladstone’s
In very nice overall condition, there is a small chip in the wrap and 2 extra holes behind the strainer, also at some point in the 50s a Gretsch Dampener was added.
Edges are all good, tunes up great and is the best sounding Gladstone I’ve had for sale out of 3 others.
The key does slip a bit on one of the 3 fittings but all the rods and strainer work great!
Absolute bargain due to strainer holes and 50s dampener.
