3Ply Gretsch Set in MidnightBlue

1952 Gretsch Drum Set 22/13/16 and matching 14 x 6.5 Floorshow snare.

A very rare 3ply Gretsch set in vibrant/Mint Midnight Blue Pearl. It’s very hard to believe that these drums are over 70+ years old. The few who have seen these in person thought they were a newer re-issue set up due to the exceptional appearance and condition.

The cleanest Gretsch from this period that I’ve ever seen ! No grazing on the hoop edges suggesting that it’s spend very little time out of its cases. The wrap is glossy and fluid while the metal has very little pitting other than the first generation diecast snare hoops, they are always pitted.
The only flaw with this set up is there is a split (now repaired by myself) on the inside of the bassdrum and this split was only on the inner ply. This does not affect playability or strength. This was a common issue on these thicker 3ply shells.

There are a mix of some unoriginal tension rods but other than it’s very straight with great factory edges, tunes or down with ease.
There are now so few of these around in any condition let alone this time capsule piece.
