Black nickel with hand engraving.
This is a beautiful example of an early Leedy engraved Black Elite snare drum. Leedy’s version of the black beauty with a hand engraving pattern in the nickel shell. The nobby gold hardware provides a beautiful contrast next to the black shell. I date this drum to the mid 20s because of the 4 screw elite lugs.There is a Indianapolis stamp on the top rim and a script Leedy logo on the strainer and even has the Leedy speedway strainer.
A beautiful drum with double inverted beads. The black nickel has heavy wear but adds to it character and charm.
An incredible sounding drum with a great brassy tone but also could be mistaken for a wooden snare in the body of sound.
